James 1:19-20
"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."
What can I say really?? James is pretty to the point for the most part, he doesn't mess around.
James is right on target, we should take our time taking everything in, make sure you've got everything straight, and understand what is really going on first. If that means taking time to weed through some one's story with them then do so, before you open your mouth so you don't put your foot in it, because; there is always three sides to every story, "his side, her side, and then there is the truth."
When it comes to the anger part, be really slow, like a snail's pace if you can, because; when you lose your temper quickly you tend to look a little foolish. Sometimes if you had listened first you would have never got angry in the first place, and even if you do get angry and you take your time getting there, it may not be as explosive and far less feelings will be hurt. And you will be able to think about what upsets you about the situation, and explain it to that person in a far more loving way.
hope all this makes sense, it's late and it all made sense in my head, lol!
